art is knowing ~ art is healing ~ art is playful FUN!

deeper than
your story through art

deeper than words
visual art journaling

Deeper Than Words is an opportunity to explore specific issues that are important to you…things that may want further attention and exploration.

It’s a way to express, process, and embrace your story using the journal as your soul’s kitchen.

Visual Art Journaling is a process of noticing, responding, and tapping into your own inner wisdom and knowing.

    • It uses simple art materials, but it’s not about making a pretty picture or following a step-by-step tutorial.
    • It is about checking inside, listening and paying attention to those inner stirrings, that quiet voice guiding you, and then expressing yourself using a language of colour, image, shape, form and texture.
    • It’s about using words to dialogue and communicate with yourself about the imagery created as a way to integrate the visual, intuitive, feeling-side of your brain with your logical, thought-centred brain.
    • NO special skills or previous art experience are required.

This creative practice is a gift you give yourself for self-care, guidance and healing.

Results may bring surprising epiphanies, shifts in perception, prompts for action, and radical self-care!

As the poets and painters of centuries have tried to tell us, art is not about the expression of talent or the making of pretty things. It is about the preservation and containment of soul. It is about arresting life and making it available for contemplation.

Art captures the eternal in the everyday, and it is the eternal that feeds soul
- the whole world in a grain of sand.
